
EU Project Manager – EU Project Implementation Manager
Project implementation is significantly more complicated, time-consuming, and more responsible than project preparation – errors in project implementation and public procurement procedures can result in jeopardizing the whole project and recovery of funds. This program is intended for persons involved in the implementation of EU projects, assistants, and project managers.

Complete training of 5 days consists of theoretical and practical parts. Implementation and management of EU-funded projects involves project activity planning, human resources management, familiarization with parts of grant contracts, contractual rights and obligations of beneficiaries, project reporting – preparation of a Request for Reimbursement, Final Project Reports (practical part), and project budget management.
The workshop mostly includes practical exercises in project implementation – simulated through examples of thoroughly and properly implemented projects . All participants will receive two examples of projects that will be processed within the project implementation workshop in order to prepare for work on implementation of given projects.
The workshop is conceptualized as a practical learning through exercises, problems, and obstacles in project preparation. At the end of the workshops, participants will get a set of project preparation materials with practical examples of preparation.
This program is intended for persons involved in the implementation of EU projects, assistants, and project managers. Given that this is a complex process resulting from a successfully prepared and applied project, participants applying for this program should have basic knowledge of EU funds and their preparation.

- Planning the implementation of the overall project (activities and required outputs of the project).
- Participation of partners in the project – development of work packages for partners and partnership agreement.
- Establishment of a project team, distribution of work and tasks.
- EU project finance – financial monitoring of project implementation.
- Grant Agreement – tips & tricks.
- Real problems in project implementation – contract changes, additions, contract changes.
- Errors or problems in project implementation – contract repercussions – reduction of grants, unachieved results and indicators, delay in project activities and implementation, contract termination.
- What does the contracting authority look for – Examples of verifying the successful submission of project documentation
- Establishment of project registers and documentation + presentation of management method.
- Public procurement principles and rules on public procurement in EU projects.
- Public procurement principles and national and EU legislative rules on public procurement in EU projects.
- Practical examples – application of rules of entities not subject to public procurement and application of rules of the Law on Public Procurement.
- Choosing the best bidder.
- Reimbursement Requirements – Drafting, Tips.
- Notices of minor and significant contract changes.
Ivo Šarić
Project Implementation Manager at UHY CONSULTING
Ivo Saric is the Project Implementation Manager. His day-to-day tasks include coordinating the project implementation team and advising clients in all aspects of project implementation co-financed by the European Structural and Investment Funds. This requires specific knowledge in public procurement, finance, project management methodology, and legal provisions governing different areas of EU projects.
He has been in the world of EU funds since 2013. He has gained experience in the preparation and implementation of over 60 projects in the fields of economy, infrastructure, cultural heritage, science, and education, the largest of which is EU co-financing for over HRK 80 million.
He participated in the preparation and implementation of over 70 public procurement procedures for entities liable and not liable to the Public Procurement act. He also regularly acts as a lecturer for the company, at educational programs in the fields of preparation and implementation of EU projects.
Ivo graduated with a degree in Business Economics from the Faculty of Economics in Split. He is an active user of the English language. He additionally completed and continues to receive training in the field of project preparation and implementation, as well as in the field of public procurement in Croatia and abroad. His interests and previous work experience in various fields such as civil society, science, IT, manufacturing, construction, commerce, and tourism helped him to see the broader picture of every project he is involved in.
